Efficient I/O Merging Scheme for Distributed File Systems

چکیده
Recently, decentralized file systems are widely used to overcome centralized systems’ load asymmetry between nodes and the scalability problem. Due lack of a metadata server, require more RPC requests control processing clients servers, which adversely impacts I/O performance traffic imbalance by increasing latency. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme reduce overhead in systems. Instead sending single request at time, enqueued RPCs global queue merged them into larger requests, thus avoiding excessive latency overheads. The experimental results showed that our improves write read up 13% 16%, respectively, compared with those original.

Fault Tolerant File Models for MPI-IO Parallel File Systems
Abstract. Parallelism in file systems is obtained by using several independent server nodes supporting one or more secondary storage devices. This approach increases the performance and scalability of the system, but a fault in one single node can make the whole system fail. In order to avoid this problem, data must be stored using some kind of redundant technique, so that it can be recovered i...
متن کاملAn Efficient Data Sharing Scheme for iSCSI-Based File Systems
iSCSI is an emerging transport protocol for transmitting SCSI storage I/O commands and data blocks over TCP/IP networks. It allows storage devices to be shared by multiple network hosts. A fundamental problem is how to enable consistent and efficient data sharing in iSCSI-based environments. In this paper, we propose a suite of data sharing schemes for iSCSI-based file systems and use ext2 as a...

متن کاملAnalyzing IO Amplification in Linux File Systems
We present the first systematic analysis of read, write, and space amplification in Linux file systems. While many researchers are tackling write amplification in keyvalue stores, IO amplification in file systems has been largely unexplored. We analyze data and metadata operations on five widely-used Linux file systems: ext2, ext4, XFS, btrfs, and F2FS. We find that data operations result in si...
متن کاملEfficient Data Replication Scheme based on Hadoop Distributed File System
Hadoop distributed file system (HDFS) is designed to store huge data set reliably, has been widely used for processing massive-scale data in parallel. In HDFS, the data locality problem is one of critical problem that causes the performance decrement of a file system. To solve the data locality problem, we propose an efficient data replication scheme based on access count prediction in a Hadoop...
